Surveys
Surveys are performed by GPS and more seldom by total stations. In both cases rover files are generated. Their format depends on the measurement instrument.

These files are filtered in different ways. The result is stored in a propriety format and as a standard GIS file.

The formats used are:

  • ESRI ArcView shape files for GIS-data
  • Trimble .ssf file format för the GPS

In both cases the features have coordinates and attributes. The latter are generally in a propriety format created by the company. It describes using constructors data types that can characterise most properties of antiquities or the landscape for orienteerers and landscape surveyors.

Generally there are several files in a folder as a result of a survey. They are comprimated to one file in .zip format.
